The first ever Taiwan Expo in Penang 台湾形象展 is officially held in Setia SPICE Convention Centre on the 5th and 6th July 2019. I was so honoured to be invited to attend one of the enlightened seminars of the day - Taiwan Healthcare Technology Seminar.

This seminar is hosted by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and it features various renowned medical products and service providers.

这场讲座是由卫生福利部与外贸协会(TAITRA)主办，集合台湾优质的八家医疗服务和产品。

The seminar started with the first sharing by Taipei Beitou Health Management Hospital regarding Medical Tourism in Taipei - Taipei Wellness Clinic and Resort. It really enlightened me that patients will be able to stay in the hot spring resort while receiving the healthcare service.

Another interesting topic on advanced cell therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Hualien Tzu Chi Medical Center by Dr Chi-Cheng Li.

花莲慈济医院分享关于骨髓移植和细胞治疗。

Next we had learnt something new about cancer care by using Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) shared by Dr Yu-Ming Wang from Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He mentioned that every cancer treatment varies and usually it takes 40 mins for one fraction per day.

Dr Jen-Tsung Yang from Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has elaborated in detail about Trigeminal Neuralgia which is chronic sharp pain of the fifth cranial nerve. This is something related to my field and I truly understand TGN can be quite distressed. Perhaps I will refer some of my patients to their hospital (if I happen to see one in the future).

The final speaker was Mr Jacob, consultant of Kang Yi International Integrated Marketing Co., Ltd. and he shared about the importance of genetic engineering in healthcare management. It is vital to do a genetic test to get the personalized health management in order to prevent major diseases.
