DoroT: How to get married legally in Malaysia? 结婚这件事?

So this is the moment where you and your soulmate are ready to take your relationship to the next level, congratulations But what shall you do now?

当你读到这篇文章时，首先得恭喜你们，决定这条不归路婚姻之路。

哈哈，在马来西亚注册婚姻需要准备以下一些文件。↓↓

A. To be legally married (Non Muslims), you need the following documents : 

i. Marriage Application Form & Statutory Declaration 婚姻注册表格(JPN KC02) 

(Must get it from any branch of Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara)

ii. Both ICs 双方身份证

iii. Your witnesses' ICs 双方见证人身份证 

iv. One coloured passport-sized photo 彩色护照相片 

v. Pay RM30 (for marriage certificate) 付RM30

Once you have all these ready, you just hand them in to your nearest Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara/ National Registration Department & wait for your marriage day!

准备好了以上文件就可以交到注册局JPN，告诉你要的日期然后等候当天到来。

B. On the day of solemnization of marriage at JPN 注册当天, remember to:

i. Dress neatly 穿着得体

ii. Be there as early as possible together with your 2 witnesses from both sides. 
双方新人和见证人要尽早到现场 

iii. Get married and your application will be displayed for at least 21 days. 
礼成然后你的注册会被展示21天

C. If you wish to have your solemnization in churches, temples & associations 如果想在其他地方行礼如教会等，

i. Birth Certificate 双方报生纸

ii. Get all the documents above ready and certified under the Commissioner of Oath 
去宣誓官证实文件

iii. Submit to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara and choose your date in your respective associations. (additional charges may be applied) 
把文件交回给注册局再去你要行礼的地方选日子。

And congrats, you guys are officially married! 恭喜啦~

Next, it is time to prepare your wedding banquet which requires even more efforts (and $$$$).

接下来才是最头疼的事情- 婚宴筹备

My advice is to organize it as early as possible to avoid last-minute havoc.

i. Wedding Date 日期

ii. Wedding Venue 地点

iii. Wedding Gowns 婚纱

iv. Makeup Artist 化装师

v. Photographer/ Videographer 摄影师

vi. Wedding Planner/ Decoration 婚礼策划师 (optional)

vii. Wedding Band 婚礼乐团(optional) 

viii. Chinese Matchmaker 送嫁娘(optional)
（过大礼，回礼，安床，排橱，上头等等都是华人结婚习俗）

Besides, there are also traditional customs for Chinese to follow like the betrothal, matrimonial bed setting, new wardrobe, hair combing ritual........(which I don't really follow) but you may ask your 'matchmaker' aunty for further details. lol

It is always difficult to make everything perfect but if you plan it ahead, settle all your headaches beforehand, your wedding day will run smoothly and successfully!
