Lingua Gustatio: Ipoh Day Trip

Rise & shine, it is time to get some brekkie in Ipoh. People from the North always stop by for some local food especially dimsum while on the way heading to KL. We were truly grateful to have friends in Ipoh to guide us on this gastronomic journey.  *Big shoutout to them*

1. Nam Heong Soho 南香
Nam Heong is one of the renowned local eateries in Ipoh especially the freshly baked egg tarts and classic white coffee.

This Ipoh Soho branch starts to serve equally first-rate food in a classy ambience since 2014. This modern kopitiam combines the traditional cooking and concurrent technology by using e-order with a tablet.

Supreme Prawn Noodle (RM10.90)
Always a fan of Penang Har Mee and this Ipoh prawn noodle is on par with it surprisingly. The prawn based soup is believed to be stewed for quite some time to obtain the genuine fragrance of the prawns and pork.

Egg Noodle With BBQ Pork and Wanton (RM10.90)
The Wanton noodle is no different to the others except for the BBQ pork (charsiew) which we find it flavourful and slightly a little chewy.

2. Restaurant SYW

Introduced by a local mate, apparently this roasted duck outlet has been operating for more than three decades. Undoubtedly, from the finely greased rice to the glistening roasted duck, every piece needs more recommendations.
By the way, it's not common to scout for avocado juice in town especially in Chinese restaurant and I would say their avocado juice is pretty refreshing and tasty too.

3. ChewChew Chow Tofu Ipoh

My spouse can never forget the heavenly pleasing Chou Tofu in Fengjia Night Market ever since we came back from Taiwan. This smelly tofu may not be the same but at least this can solve his cravings temporarily. lol

Original flavour

Cheese flavour
Both are equally pungent yet yummy, best eaten when it is still crispy and soft inside.

Operating Hours: 12PM - 8PM (Tuesday-Friday), 10.30AM - 8PM (Weekends)

4. Menglembu Night Market夜市

My favourite dragonfruit juice and his delightful avocado juice

Laksa fares reasonable and I wish it could be more sour to my liking. There are plenty of choices in the night market and you can never go hungry. We became extremely bloated after gulping all the meals but we still had some space to leave for dessert at Tong Sui Kai (dessert street). lol

5. Tong Sui Kai

People with sweet tooth like me can never resist this tempting assorted fruits and shaved ice.

The gist of rojak always goes to the sweet and spicy shrimp sauce. Rojak usually consists of mixed vege, fruits with dough fritters dipped in the unique shrimp sauce and this is one of the best rojaks I have tasted.

Location: Jalan Sultan Ekram 30300 Ipoh (Next to Sam Tet High School)

See ya again, Ipoh
