Lingua Gustatio: Leong Hee Seafood

The name Leong Hee Seafood has been inscribed in my mind after I attended a friend's wedding banquet last year. Why? It is because of the exquisite dishes that made the name unforgettable.
Many thanks to Leong Hee Seafood for giving us this great opportunity to introduce this authentically appetizing Chinese 'chu-char' to you guys.

Teaser of the day~

Leong Hee Seafood has been running its business since 38 years ago prioritizing in wedding and event banquet and recently it has expanded its wing to cater for more people.

It is located alongside with 1997 Coffee House in Paya Terubong
(opposite Sekolah Rendah Kong Min Cawangan 2).

Every table would be set up with red linens and dining turntable just like a classic Chinese restaurant.

Braised Pork with Yam (RM28)
This is one of their signature dishes on the wedding dinner - braised pork meddling with fried taro. The pork belly layered with skin, fat and meat was well braised in homemade sauce and yam was sandwiched below giving a different texture.

Double Chicken Platter (RM48)
This is another must-have on a wedding banquet. If you are indecisive of which way to prepare the poultry, our skilled chef here has given both the choices - steamed chicken plus crispy fried chicken. I would give this 2 thumbs up because both ways are absolutely fascinating especially the silky smooth steamed chicken topped with slight herbaceous scent.

Fried Mantis Shrimp with Salted Egg (RM30)
I bet this dish could assuage everybody's taste receptors because it's undoubtedly crispy and with the addition of salted egg, the scent was accentuated further, now let me have another bowl of rice please.

Stir Fried Kangkung (Water Spinach) in Sambal Belacan (RM18)
Our PM once gave an example using kangkung to explain the supply and demand in Malaysia and I agree it is a popular vegetable indeed and one of the common preparation is stir-fry with sambal belacan. However, I guess our spiciness tolerance is not that high as we found it a little too spicy but no doubt the sambal belacan still made it a complimentary dish.

Fried Tofu with Chicken Floss and Abalone Sauce (RM20)
It's not a common combination between tofu and chicken floss and surprisingly they make pretty good pair. I particularly love the homemade abalone sauce
which is quite flavourful and yet not too salty.

Stir Fry Green Dragon Chives with Bean Sprout (RM18)
A traditional home cooked dish as it tastes just like somewhere you call home. lol I just adore how the chives as well as the taugeh taste crisply in the mouth, all thanks to the chef for not making them too soggy.

Steamed Grouper in Teochew Style (RM100)
Steamed fish is also one of the customary dishes in a wedding dinner. We had a substantially huge grouper that could feed 10 pax today. There were various ways to prepare the fish and the boss decided to make it Teochew style which was a little spicy and sour,
therefore it is also another good companion with rice.

Curry Prawns (RM38)
I sometimes reminisce the India cuisine and this curry prawn somehow resembles the one in India. Perfectly scented with fragrant ingredients, yet the prawns still remained its freshness and with a tinge of exotic aroma.
