Since the opening of newly refurbished Taste Café in Sept 2015, it has become a new exciting dining spot for the foodies.
The facelifting includes the elements of modern and tradition making it stylish and nostalgic simultaneously. Previously known as G Cafe, the Taste Cafe now offers daily themed buffet dinner from 6.30PM - 10.30PM. 
位于G Hotel 里头的餐厅Taste Cafe 在去年九月又重新开幕,这里吸引了不少饕客。自从经过了翻新,Taste Cafe 的装潢结合了现代与传统的元素,又时髦及复古。现在每天都有提供自助餐而且是天天不一样主题噢!

The restaurant is sophisticatedly designed with floral tiles, trendy architecture and warm lighting thus creating cozy and yet luxurious ambience to every guest.
所有的餐台都以花纹为主,精致又简洁,配上舒适的灯光,让客人可以享受极致。






The restaurant allows the seating of total 207 diners both indoor and outdoor. Personally I prefer to stay indoor as we could enjoy the in-house band performance from 7pm till 10pm while indulge in the scrumptious buffet dinner. 
这餐厅总共可以容纳207食客。我个人比较喜欢坐室内用餐因为又可以欣赏每晚7到10点的歌唱表演。



The advantage of dining outdoor is you would have the opportunity to peek on how the chef barbeques with the Lava Stone Grill. This is the gist of all because this grill is first ever used in Penang! How lucky we (Penangites) are right?
不过在室外呢也有好处,就是可以看现场厨师精湛的手艺啦。Taste Cafe 的特点就是利用从印尼运过来的火山岩石来烧烤,而且还是槟城第一家哦!


The Lava Stone is originated from Indonesia and apparently it can provide better heat distribution and thus helps retain the moisture and nutrients of the food.
火山岩石据说可以让火散得更平均,因此锁住了食物的滋润与营养。

As the theme today is Tex Mex which is the fusion of Texas and Mexican cuisines, most of the food are characterized by meatssss and plenty of spices. This buffet theme is introduced by the culinary team led by Executive Sous Chef Ketut Gede Dodi from Indonesia who has 13 years of culinary experience especially in Texas cuisines. 
今天的Tex Mex 主题是Texas 和墨西哥餐结合来的。主要食品还是肉类居多,这主题也是Chef Dodi 的拿手因为他已经有足足13年的经验了。

Besides, there are more than 10 different sauces to 'mix and match'. 而且还有超过10种的酱料让你搭配肉类。






Moving on to the salad bar, we have some sandwich hams as cold cuts and even my favourite raw & smoked salmon are served.
沙拉台上首先有不同的肉片还有我爱的三文鱼。

I was pretty impressed with the skills of the chef as every single of this cute itty bitty bread was prepared precisely and orderly. 
其实每一道菜式都可以看出厨师的心血因为都很精致又美味。



The restaurant even serves different kinds of cheese to fix the cravings for cheese lovers.  
哇,还有大家都爱的芝士呢。

Chard Corn Soup 玉蜀黍汤
Frankly I'm not a fan of corn soup but this soup could stir a debate within my taste buds. It is highly rich in corns, sweet and starchy, just add a few cubes of bread crumbs and it makes a pretty good starter.
个人不是说很钟爱玉蜀黍不过这汤果然让我爱上它了。甜甜的,加上一点面包,是很好吃的前菜之一。

Chicken Chinese Herbs Soup 药材汤
As a Chinese, soups are considered as our regular meals. The soup is well concentrated with the essence of chicken. 味道浓郁的药材鸡汤,真的很好吃。

As it is one of the high recommendations from the chef, all these beef meatballs are delicately grinded and braised over the time with seasoning. Each of them is genuinely handmade!


*Drumrolls for the superstar tonight - Roasted Smoked Duck* 主角之一 烧烤烟熏鸭肉来啦~
Chef Dodi prepared it by cold smoke the duck with apple wood and marinate it in chiller for a day. Why apple wood? Its fruity aroma would enhance the sweetness of the duck. Undoubtedly this is the best main dish for me. Doubt it? Try it yourself. ;) 
这是厨师特意推荐的因为是以apple wood烟熏再冷藏一天的。据说apple wood 可以让鸭肉更为香甜,果然真的很好吃。

Roasted Beef
Beef is the main choice for Texan and this roasted beef is definitely tailored made to match with this Tex Mex theme. Chef Dodi prepared the prime ribs imported from Australia by marinating it with spices for 6 hours then he smoked and roasted it in the oven for 2 hours. 
主角之二:烧烤牛排
牛肉是Texas人主食之一。这也是厨师呕心沥血的作品,用从澳洲运过来的牛肉,研制了6小时之后再烧烤2小时才可以端出餐台上。

Sri Pinang
A blend of soursop, calamansi juice, longan and top up with ice cream soda 以红毛榴莲,龙眼调成的饮料。
This unique fresh and cooling beverage is definitely one of the must-try mocktails on list.


Basically we just had to try each and every dish in a small portion as there are many more dishes to try!

Alright, last but not least here comes the most exciting part for the girls especially - DESSERTS!
Again we are extremely amazed by the artwork of the bakers as every single dessert is handcrafted aesthetically and tastily. 最让人期待的就是。。。甜点啦~~~

Chocolate Crème Brûlée 
I truly enjoyed indulging my sweet tooth in all the desserts especially this burnt cream! The mouthwatering custard is soft underneath and perfectly flavoured in my personal chocolate.
