DoroT Travels: Sabah - Kundasang (Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping, Desa Cattle Dairy Farm) 沙巴旅游记I

It was my first experience flying to the East Malaysia to attend our friend's wedding dinner and also as a short getaway. After we touched down at KK airport, we headed straight to Kundasang, a 2-hour journey away from KK. Kundasang has the best panaromic view of Mount Kinabalu and it is definitely worth the bumpy 2 hours' drive getting there.

其实，真的有点惭愧得说，我真的是第一次来到东马。哈哈。主要原因是参加朋友的婚礼，次要就是来个小小的旅行。我们一抵达哥打京那巴鲁机场，就一路向东，以两个小时的路程才抵达兰瑙的Kundasang。

1. Hounon Ridge Farm, Bundu Tuhan

We got to know about this place from FB and were so mesmerized by the 'simulated' pictures of New Zealand. Therefore, we decided to have a night stay over here.

After driving up the 2-hour steep and mountainous road, (pls prepare your anti-emetics to overcome your motion sickness) we arrived at the homestay at last with the GPS guide.

所幸一路都有GPS导航，我们才找得到地方所在.

还有要提醒大家，这路途颠簸，上山下坡，记得带你的晕车药丸呀~

They provide rooms as well as camps. (RM90 for double room on weekday,

RM20 for a tent for two, check the latest rates on their website)

As active, energetic and vibrant young people like us, we chose to live under the tents to blend into the landscape though all of us had no experience in camping. lol

除了有房间之外，他们也是有提供营帐。我们这几个年轻小伙子就胆粗粗的，选择睡营帐。

（过后就后悔了）

Fortunately, the worker aided us in setting up the camps. The steps may look easy but you need some strength to hook it into the land, or else the strong wind would just destroy your hard work in seconds.

幸好这民宿工作人员帮我们装置帐篷，要不然我们这几个新手一定会弄到没地方睡了。呵呵。

As the night drew in, the surroundings became quiet and rather romantic with the dimmed lights.

那晚上的灯光就显得浪漫且宁静。

Oh yes, BBQ in this cooling weather is definitely the best choice. BBQ pit, cutlery and all the utensils (even gas stove) are provided but you gotta prepare your own food, fire starter, charcoal as well as the metal grill. (We bought all these in KK beforehand)

我们的晚餐就是烧烤啦~民宿是有提供烧烤炉和工具（铁串，盘碗汤匙杯子都有,还有煤气炉）不过你就需要自己买材料，火炭，火种和那铁网。我们在上山之前就在KK买齐全部东西了）

We had a lil chitchat after the dinner and went to ~~bed i mean~~ tent hoping for a good night, but sadly, it was a freezing dark night with some difficulty sleeping on the rocky ground. Mind you, if you did not bring your sleeping bag, you could rent a pillow/ blanket at RM5 respectively. We thought we could survive without them by using our own towels and tonnes of clothes as pillow and blanket but it was wrong. Pls wrap yourself like a huge sushi roll if you plan to sleep in the tent. Lesson learnt. lol

吃饱了，聊饱了，我们就回帐篷睡觉。。。不过整晚我起来了三次。

一，太冷；二，地板太硬；三，起来看星星。

哈哈哈！我们大家都没有帐篷露宿的经验，

是应该带睡袋的啦。不过你也可以租他们的枕头和被单（每项RM5）

After a sleepless night, we woke up earlier awaiting the sunrise. We actually googled what time would the sunrise be and it was written 6.23am. lol However, the sun was playing hide and seek with the naughty clouds, it took me half an hour of waiting to take this shot. lol

虽然睡得不是很舒服，不过我们期待的日出终于出现啦。我们还谷哥当天日出会是几点；早上6.23。可惜的是太阳公公被厚厚的云层掩盖着了，迟迟都不肯露脸。

undoubtedly made us thrilled and excited.

看吧，那Kinabalu山峰是不是很壮观？我们很幸运可观此景，因为过了一会儿，那山就被浓浓的雾盖住了。

Ok bye our lil camps. Cheerio~ 再见吧，我们的小营帐~

Short sleeves are fine in the afternoon, but definitely not after the night falls. lol

下午穿短袖短裤是没问题，不过晚上还是得乖乖穿厚厚的sweater睡觉噢！

2. Desa Cattle Dairy Farm

After we checked out from the Hounon Ridge Farmstay, we went to visit this cattle farm which was around 20km away.

离开了民宿，我们来到了养牛场，大约二十公里就到达了。

Well, when you visit a cattle farm, your olfaction would work really well. Why? The cow dung man. lol

一走进去，就被牛儿的味道‘吸引’住了。哈哈哈

Despite the stench, we were still able to enjoy our brunch lol

The milk (RM3.71) and chocolate milk (RM4.24) were quite fresh & creamy but I prefer the latter.

They do sell other dairy products like ice cream and cheese. Ice creams were pretty good but too bad the vanilla flavour was sold out at that moment.

他们的店面有售卖各式各样的乳制产品。个人比较喜欢巧克力奶哦~

I would recommend you on the cheese if you are a cheese lover as it differs from other typical cheese, it was rather bitter and more creamy. The Toma cheese slice is only RM8, no harm trying right?

喜欢芝士的朋友，也可以试试他们家的芝士。味道浓厚，又带点苦味，一大块只需8令吉，很值得哦。
