1. Asama 2 Thai Food
Since Alor Setar is just 1 hour away from Thailand, it is not surprised to spot Thai food here. Apparently this is the second shop with the prime located at Sungai Petani, hence the name Asama 2. This halal Thai restaurant is located near Tesco Mergong, just go straight and you will see it at a corner shoplot.
由于亚罗士打很靠近泰国，所以不难发现有许多泰国餐厅在这里。这餐厅从Tesco Mergong一直走下去，就会找到啦。
Som Tam aka Papaya Salad
The most suitable appetizer of all, its sourness and juiciness stimulate your saliva and prepare you for the next few dishes.
点这道木瓜沙律师很不错的前菜，酸酸甜甜的很开胃。
Kaeng Som with Fish
A famous Thai sour curry flavoured mostly from tamarind & palm sugar. 这是泰式酸咖喱，主要是有酸梅和红糖为香料，味道很特别。
Tom Yum Gong with Chicken
There are 3 options to match with the tom yum soup, namely fish, seafood or chicken. The tomyum is not too spicy for me and probably a lil sweet.
Stir-Fry Vegetables with Squid
简单普通的青菜炒鱿鱼
Otak-otak 鱼肉乌达
Both thumbs up for this dish! You must never MISS an otak-otak when you visit a Thai restaurant. Otak-otak means 'brain' in Malay and how is the name derived? The paste-like fish & coconut resemble brain juice lol but our Malaysian version is slightly different as it has chilli & turmeric as spice and prolly colour. 乌达呢是东南亚有名的菜肴。非常推荐这道因为真的很多鱼肉和浓浓的椰浆味。
This is the otak-otak when they run out of coconut. Honestly, the one in coconut shell tastes so much better.
这otak-otak是我第二次去的时候点的，那时椰子大缺货，所以呢。。就没什么椰子味咯。有点失望。
Green Curry Seafood 青咖喱海鲜
Love the scent of coconut plus green chillies with some added mint leaves. 这是由椰子和青辣椒调成的，还有少许薄荷味。
Mango Glutinous Rice 芒果糯米饭
The first time I had it was mango ripening season, which means the mango is literally sweet and tangy, yums!
好吃到~~（最好是芒果季节的时候去，因为非常香甜的）
Fried Squid - crisp and crunchy 油炸鱿鱼。
Taste: 8/10, 6/10 (ok the first visit was undoubtedly awesome but the recent visit did disappoint us as the taste was not satisfying as the previous time (diff cook perhaps)
Price: 8/ 10 (price wise, it is quite reasonable around RM15-20 each on sharing basis)

2. Auntie Kang's Nyonya Cuisine
Yesh, you can even find Nyonya food in Alor Setar! 想吃娘惹餐吗？亚罗士打也是有的。
Frankly, I don't recall the name of the dish. Should be some pork with dark soy sauce or perhaps gu lou yok? haha 不好意思，不记得这道菜是什么。好像是咕噜肉吧，印象中是不错的。
Stir-fry Bean Sprout with Salted Fish 豆芽炒咸鱼
Bean sprout could be a simple dish but it definitely impresses me when it goes along with salted fish, another must-have in Nyonya cuisine.
虽是简单的菜式，不过却非常可口又美味。

3. De Romansion Snowing Caffe
Hard to find a lovey-dovey place for your valentine? This De Romansion is surely your best choice of romance. Btw, it does not snow. lol 要浪漫点的，可以到这间西式餐厅。据说会下雪？哈哈
The exterior is certainly great and elegant, especially when it gets lighted up in the evening.
Chicken Francese RM20.90
Grilled chicken with pineapple served with fried potato and Hollandaise sauce
To be honest, it was quite ordinary like how I made my own grilled chicken at home. lol but I could recall the poultry was rather soft and tender. 这是我点的，是烧烤鸡配上黄梨，是有点普通，不过肉质是软而有弹性。
Lamb Steak 没记错的话，这是羊扒吧。
Could not remember what was it. *poor memories* lol
Yes, can't recall again (some cheese stuffed chicken I guess) but I remember it tasted real good. 这挺好吃的，应该是什么芝士焗鸡块。

4. Ginza Japenese Restaurant
Ginza is nothing new but there are limited Japanese cuisines to hunt in Alor Setar. 相信大家对Ginza不陌生吧。没错这里也可以找到好吃的日本餐哦。

5. Caffe Diem
Though there are many new cafes coming up in Alor Setar, this is still my fav hangout place.
想和朋友喝茶聊聊天，这的确是个好去处。
Boysenberry Soda RM9.90
Pardon me, I mistakenly heard it as 'poison berry' at first. lol It is a pretty refreshing and energizing drink especially in a scorching hot day. 很特别的一款果汁饮料，酸酸甜甜地。
Cafe Latte RM7.50
Truly a great hangout place and last but not least, I would like to recommend about the Lemon Poppy Seed Cake which is their signature cake as well. Sorry was not able to capture the pic of it but it is my fav cake in Alor Setar!! ^_^ 对了，最爱的是他们的柠檬罂粟种子蛋糕，忘了拍下照片，不过很快就卖完了呢。
