Lingua Gustatio: Lecker Ecke

Bustling through the busy roads in Penang, you could find this German restaurant situated at the middle of Burmah Road. Personally, I adore the name Lecker Ecke and apparently it implies 'delicious corner' in German. Indeed, this can satiate your cravings!
穿梭在槟城的街巷,这间德国餐厅位置于忙碌的车水路,有着特别的名称叫Lecker Ecke, 意思就是好吃的巷弄。这餐厅的确能满足你对德国餐的食欲。

Slate boards on the wall stating the signature beverages & dish. 黑板上写的都是餐厅推介,还可以上网哦。


Cozy environment with the delightful paintings depicting various vegetables and wines. 
舒适简单的环境,墙上还挂着几幅蔬菜和美酒的画。


Wide ranges of premium wines were organized on the wine rack. 各种各样的酒陈列在架子上,来搭配不同的菜式。

Linsen Soup RM15.90
The entree soup was lentils based, tasted similar to Indian dhal (non spicy though). The only difference is this was well enhanced with the bacons and sausages. Personally, with the rich ingredients like beans, carrots and potatoes, I think this soup could supply most of the nutrients needed daily such as vitamins and carbs. 第一道汤送上啦,是由各种豆类煮成的。味道有点像印度餐的dhal浓汤。这汤里有很多材料,马铃薯和红萝卜切丁,还有培根,香肠,实在是营养丰富。


French Onion Soup RM12.90
The sweet aromatic onions make up the entire flavour of the soup and adding cheese crouton seasons the soup further. The sauteed breads soaking in soup augmented some crunchiness. 这洋葱浓汤很香甜,中间的芝士面包还增添了几番滋味。

Pork Knuckle 德国猪脚 RM70 (Half Portion) 
The house signature pork knuckle had captured our attention by its glamorously shiny skin. Initially, we were slicing the roasted skin hardly, but to our surprise, the fatty rind was still so crumbly and crispy! The tender meat revealed after we sliced through the skin, it was best served with its exclusive wine based gravy & the sour cabbage. (pic below) If you would like to have this authentic German pork knuckle, you would have to call in a day before for reservation. Besides, you could opt for the whole portion (RM130) if you're with a big group of foodies.  主角猪脚大架光临了。想必大家都知道德国猪脚是远近驰名的。首先大家都被那烤得金棕色的猪皮吸引住了,起初是有点难切,怎知当我们咬的时候是非常脆的。再来那肉质软而多汁,配上那由酒熬成的酱汁,真的是绝配。记得一定要前一天打电话预约,半只RM70,整只是RM130。

这是腌制的包菜丝,是搭配猪脚的小菜之一。

Rinderrouladen RM28.90 
Rolled beef wrap served with onion, celery, gherkin, bacon and small salad
A jumbo layer of beef wrapping various ingredients is just so appealing. Once shearing off the outer skin, the mix of onion, celery, gherkin (pickled cucumber) matched so well with the moist beef. 
这厚厚的牛肉卷,包住了很多东西,有大葱,芹菜,腌制黄瓜还有培根。味道实在是很丰富。

The side dishes along with the beef wrap were fresh salad, red cabbages and potatoes. 
搭配牛肉卷的有其他小菜,红包菜丝,沙律和马铃薯。


Lammgulasch Rm29.90
Lamb cube stew with onion and paprika, small salad
The lamb was well stewed with spices and herbs and it reminded me of Indian lamb curry again.(This was non spicy anyway.)  I enjoyed the aroma of the paprika that boosted the entire flavour of the dish. However, I felt the pasta texture was slightly hard and dry. Anyway, this is definitely a well recommended dish. You wouldn't expect the tenderness of lamb till you try it yourself. 
此羊肉是和许多香料慢慢的炖煮,味道香浓又不腥,又让我想起印度咖喱,不过这是不辣的。可惜那意面有点干硬。喜欢吃羊肉的人,就别错过这道菜。

Beef Rinderbraten Rm38.90
Roast beef in Thyme Ju's with mashed potato and seasoning veggie
Thick rich red meats were served with the unique sauce & side dishes. The roasted beef was rather too dry for me but I love the sauce anyway. The side dishes were praiseworthy especially the mashed potato that differed from the typical taste. 
几片厚实的牛肉,是有些许硬,不过配搭的酱汁很合适。另外那马铃薯和培根包菜豆,味道也特别好吃。

Duck Rm38.90
with apple cinnamon sauce, homemade potato cookies and small salad
The juicy mouthfeel of the duck made me drool again. The sweet apple cinnamon sauce matched the duck so well and this time, the potatoes had been made into mini cute cookies which were really delicious. Thus, this had got my vote of all. 
那多汁的鸭肉和特制苹果肉桂酱真的很搭,微微的甜味吸入了鸭肉里,很香甜。此外,马铃薯饼真的很好吃。所以这是我最爱的一道菜啦。

Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffel/ Pork Rm26.90
Pork cutlet with roast potato, bacon, onion and small salad
The golden brown cutlet was well fried but the texture was slightly rough and dry to me. However, squeezing the lemon on it would moisturize and embellish the flavour. Besides, you could dip it in the mustard sauce which was pretty sour. 
猪肉扒被煎成金黄色,卖相十足,可是肉质有些许硬。但挤些柠檬汁就比较好啦。还有那酸酸的芥末酱也是很适合。
ps: All salads were fresh and well seasoned with vinegar and I love the different servings of potatoes in each dish. 
要赞一赞的是,所有的沙律都很新鲜,都是有香醋调味。还有每道菜式的马铃薯都有不同的花样,味道都皆不一。
