Penang Colour Run 2014

RAINBOW RUN

Today is the most vibrant day of all! There were around 5000 people participating in this charity event funding for Persatuan Mencegah Mangsa Dera Negeri Pulau Pinang/ Caring Home Centre/ 槟城敬爱慈善中心.
At 6am, we the sleepyheads headed to Padang Polo and met so many 'colourful' people once we arrived. Everybody was already having fun dabbing each other with the coloured powder.
Of course I couldn't escape from the colour ambush by my friends. ~_~
Luckily, I had my phone swathed in a plastic cover. My friend's S4 was sacrificed like chips dipping in a purple sauce. lol such a metaphor.

We departed from Padang Polo, jogged along Jalan Utama towards Youth Park. Basically the first kilometre was just a leisure stroll as the organizer did not arrange roadblocks, so we were actually risking our life running. hahaha. We ran all the way from Youth Park heading to Botanical Garden which was just a short distance. In the midst of the journey, all the memories of Merentas Desa in my high school came flashing through. FYI, my high school was just nearby, thus the cross country running from my school to Youth Park was held annually.

There were 2 stations where the organizing members would spatter us the runners with the natural colouring powder.

*can't breath at all*
*it tastes so bitter*
*cough cough*
*ahhh kena my eyes, nose, mouth, etc etc*
*finally got through the hurdle towards the fresh air*

As soon as we passed through the stations, we bumped into some friends, (gotta know that Penang is very small) chatted and jogged back to the destination.
Completed the course and it's photo session!
All in sweats with smudging colours

After the run, we were given sushi and drinks as included in the participation fee. 'Dance floor' under the sun with coloured powder and lucky draw was the last event. We left earlier because we were too hungry...haha.

Reviews:
1. Quite a good experience as this is the first colour run in Penang.
2. Perhaps this is the first event in Penang, the organizers seem not to be proficient in managing it. They should shut down the main route to ensure the safety of the runners. (Even though they have hired few helpers from Rela to control the traffic, I think it's better to be safe than sorry.) If they really can't make it, they should have just changed the route involving just the PARK.
3. I wish there are more varieties of colours as there were only purple, pink and green available yesterday. These 3 don't make rainbow hue.
4. Spent few hours scrubbing my face and body to get rid of the stubborn stains. People might have mistaken us for having allergies on the next day. Hopefully they can bring in some removable natural colours for the next event.

The 2 beauties on a lavender canvas =P
