Happy Winter Solstice!

Winter Solstice is definitely an utmost significant festival in Chinese culture. It symbolizes the homecoming, reunion and family unity. Every family member ought to be back at home and make tangyuan (glutinous rice balls in sweet broth). The elderly people would say the rounder rice balls you make, the happier family it will be.
Usually this festival will fall on 21st or 22nd of December, in the extreme of winter. (Well, of course we do not have winter in Malaysia..haha)
Now, let me introduce all the types of tangyuan we made. lol.. Basically the tangyuan is just a dough of glutinous rice mixed with water. You can add your favourite ingredients inside as you wish, eg: red bean, black sesame, peanuts, etc etc.. Well, due to time constraint, we only managed to roll the traditional one without filling. However, we came up to 3 different sweet soups, namely the ginger with brown sugar soup, soya bean & red bean paste. The latter one is slightly taking our time because first the red bean has to be boiled and blended once it gets soft. (Remember to pick the small red bean as it tastes better than the large one)

Ta-daaa~
Enjoy!
