Mess Hall - The Grand Opening 7.11.2014 & REVIEWS!

A brand new restaurant/ cafe/ art gallery/ museum has been born in the heart of Penang. Settling at a strategic location facing the sea view, Mess Hall is easily spotted as it is directly opposite the tourist destination - Padang Kota/ Esplanade Penang.

It serves mainly fusion of Chinese and Western cuisines. Besides, there is a all day brewing cafe to serve you the coffee lovers! Though I am not a fan of coffee, I love its scent that lingers throughout the entire shop.

Personally, I find it pretty cozy and serene and very suitable for gathering or meetings.

This building is under the House of Yeap Chor Ee museum. Thus, after having your dine in here, you can just walk behind to visit the museum! (With entrance fees though)

Since it is a fusion restaurant, we decided to try on both Chinese and Western dishes. 

1. Aglio Olio set lunch. 

(Different from other aglio olio as it is slightly spicier)

2. MH speciality Chicken set lunch 

(It is really special as I have never had that kinda taste before, tomyum alike I would say but ... uh not really.lol. you gotta try it yourself.)

The set lunch includes a drink - Nutmeg, Chinese herbal drink etc

3. Mocha is an additional order and the cute soldier biscuit is their signature logo. Isn't it adorable?

The set lunch is around Rm13.90 or Rm15.90 which is pretty reasonable.

This is one of their set dinners. Set dinner comes with a starter, main course and ANY DRINKS! (Any coffee ranging from latte, espresso to iced beverages like frappe etc)

1. Today's special - Salmon belly 

(Thumbs up! Well cooked salmon with its matching brown sauce? Not sure what sauce was that but it is really amazing)

2. Crispy noodle with scallop and mussels 

(Not bad and the seafood served is huge in size. *nyam*)

3. Mango cheese cake. 

(Their cheese cake is indeed full of cheese lol..Will be suitable for those who are real cheese lovers)

Food: 8/10 (Delicious, will definitely come back for another mouthwatering dishes)

Drinks: 8/10

Ambience: 7/10 (Cozy but yet to be improved)

Price: 7/10 (Reasonable price)
