Nostalgic India 3

HOLIDAYS IN INDIA
Station 1 - Pondicherry (28.11.2009-29.11.2009)

When we touched down in Salem, my friends and I had already planned for holidays before we started our classes. lol We thought of going somewhere nearby and after much consideration and opinions from the seniors, we opted a 2D1N trip to Pondicherry/ Puducherry.

Pondicherry aka Pondy is once under the French rule for over 100 years. Now, it is known as Union Territory of India enclaved by 3 different states. After all, it is totally different from Salem in terms of infrastructure, environment and even the air. (Well, we just wanted a break out of Salem.)

DAY 1

Had a bumpy ride over the entire four hours in a 14-seater tempo(van) and luckily no one threw up.

The first stop was Baker Street.
Apparently, it is a French concept store serving breads and pastries. Thumbs up for the delicacies because you would never find another bakery like this in Salem.

Snake bread

Alligator bread
Ham sandwich I think
Pear/ fruit tartelette
Personally I love this the most! Mille Feuilles
Choc something, not bad
I wish I could eat'em all!

Headed to a tourist spot next - Matrimandir.
It is the soul of the city spot for yoga practitioners and serves as a venue for one to find consciousness. (Google it for more info.)
I basically would just describe it as a golden globe. lol
Some souvenir shops
The inner structure of Matrimandir
Solar energy
Free drinking water = Free microorganisms: E. coli, Salmonella....
OH Hi!
Housemates in Junior Quarters <3 p="">

Spent almost 2 hours in the botanical garden, I mean the spiritual garden..lol. There was quite some distance walking from the entrance to the golden sphere or perhaps it was too hot and boring and we just wanted to leave. lol

Dinner time!! It is always exciting when it comes to FOOD.
Le Club is renowned for both great ambience and cuisine. Surprisingly, the price is acceptable too.
No one was using smart phone in 2009 yet...lol
Chicken with mushroom sauce, looks inviting? Aye?

Chilled at the seaside after dinner. Strolled along the rocky beach...well, there was nothing in sight in the dark honestly.

These 2 gays cycled back to their love hut. lol
Last but not least..lol
Well, it was a fun night to all of us..like tiger balm game etc etc and ended up 3 girls rolling on the floor with a blanket. lol too funny!
The bad news is I lost all the secret photos as my hard disc has gone haywire. T_T Perhaps they just wanna be remained as 'secrets'.

DAY 2
The huge difference between Salem and Pondy is the cleanliness! You can see the sign boards with 'Clean Pondicherry', 'Be responsible' etc all over the streets.

Come so far eat pizza hut meh??? =P
Back to the same beach
Epic hairstyle lol
lol.. zaman kurus

Among all the Catholic churches, this Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is definitely the most famous pilgrimage spot. I was utterly mesmerized by the beautiful Gothic structure with special glass panels.

On the way walking back to our hotel, we passed by the market @ M.G. Road.
You could find any books here including our textbooks.
Btw, books in India are indeed way cheaper than in Malaysia.
Mahatma Gandhi statue

Dinner @ The Promenade which serves scrumptious international buffet.

Our class rep, Sachin..was so thin last time.hahaha

Everybodyyyy! With seniors at the end of the table.

Headed back to hostel after having our stomachs filled. Yes, another 3 hours bumpy journey...
That ended our very first vacation in India which brought back many memories to me. I just can't believe 5 years passed so swiftly. Everything just seems like yesterday, we were all so voung, vibrant and carefree...

Stay tuned for the next vacation post!
