Nostalgic India 2

SECOND YEAR

In second year, time management is extremely important as we had 6 subjects to deal with. The subjects were tougher and at the mean time, we had to finish the practical work in limited time. So, I guess I had been burning out my brain cells when I was burning the midnight oil.

Pathology
Patho is basically all about diseases. After studying physiology in the first year, now we had to learn what and how the diseases disrupt the function of our body. Like the recent global issue - Ebola, I first read it from there and did not expect it would be pandemic. (Hopefully no)

Microbiology
Again, we were taught to use microscope to observe the microorganisms. They are the culprits in causing all kinds of diseases. Thus, in this subject, we learnt to observe and perform some tests to confirm they are the main causative agents.

Pharmacology
This is my favourite subject despite memorizing the names and side effects of the drugs made me mad. I often created multiple weird and 'kinky' mnemonics. For example... shhhhh... And guess what, my answer for every side effect of any drug is always nausea, vomiting and dizziness. LOL
Dental materials
In dentistry, we ought to know every single bit of our materials. Any powder, tool or machine related to dentistry is under this subject. The boring part was we had to memorize what are the constituents inside a single material....

Prosthodontics (Preclinical)
This is actually a final year subject, so we just learnt about the basics of artificial teeth. (Gigi palsu) We had to get approval for every step of our work and that was a nightmare to me because I often got mine rejected. However, after some time, I grasped the skill and I kinda like the sub in the end. This proves that practice makes perfect.

ODS (Cons)
This is another final year subject about filling. We practised on typodont attached to a dummy.
So this is a typodont that we drilled holes and do fillings. FYI - Each tooth costs at least Rm5!

Btw, what is the full form of ODS again? Operative dentistry? (This was the viva question lol)

Fortunately, we had something else for entertainment other than books -The annual PIDC Cup and PIDC Night!

PIDC CUP
Kickstarted with a cheerleading competition. I never had a chance for that and it was indeed a memorable experience as we scored the best team! *proud* lol

Go ZEUS!!

Some crazy pictures..lol

The model and the designer hahaa

Throughout the PIDC Cup, we played all sorts of games. I'm not really a sport person but I learned to play volleyball, basketball, futsal and had lotsa fun indeed!

Next, PIDC Night in Salem...After a month of sports, there would be a closing night aka PIDC Night at Chenneys Gateway (if I'm not mistaken). All the high scorers in sports & academic would be awarded and of course, most importantly, fabulous performances by the students were the hit of the night!

The theme was Broadway - Indian broadway to be exact.

At the end of 2nd year in Salem, we had an official farewell organised by the college. Just a formality I guess...with some heartfelt speeches and performances by the juniors.

So, this was our farewell gift. A non-adjustable table clock.lol

Ok, till then!
